Summary

An Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling series。

What family secrets are behind two disappearances? Seattle detective Tracy Crosswhite is determined to uncover the truth in the latest installment of New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni’s heart-stopping series。

Returning from an extended leave in her hometown of Cedar Grove, Detective Tracy Crosswhite finds herself reassigned to the Seattle PD’s cold case unit。 As the protective mother of an infant daughter, Tracy is immediately drawn to her first file: the abduction of a five-year-old girl whose parents, embattled in a poisonous divorce, were once prime suspects。

While reconstructing the days leading up to the girl’s disappearance, Tracy is brought into an active investigation with former partner Kinsington Rowe。 A young woman has vanished on an isolated jogging trail in North Seattle。 Divided between two critical cases, Tracy has little to go on except the treacherous deceptions behind a broken marriage—and now, the secrets hiding behind the closed doors of a deceptively quiet middle-class neighborhood。

To find two missing persons, Tracy will have to follow more than clues, which are both long cold and unsettlingly fresh。 Given her own traumatic past, Tracy must also follow her instincts—to whatever dark and dangerous places they may lead。

This was another amazing entry into this series。 It was great to be back with Tracy, and follow along as she investigated two cases。 Both cases tugged at the heartstrings and left me nervous to know what the outcomes would be。 Dugoni handled both superbly, still giving me a few surprises along the way。 Super enjoyable, with several moments that had me internally cheering。 Highly recommend this book and this series。

Di tutti gli otto romanzi con protagonista la detective più cazzuta di Seattle questo è sicuramente il migliore 🤩 al cardiopalma e sicuramente inaspettato 🤩 Consigliatissimo 😍

In Her TracksI’m glad I’m alone when I listen because there was a twist that causes me to react out loud! Well done! I enjoy this narrator but at times her narration was robotic and stiff。

Another good one! This series keeps me reading! So glad for it。 Dugoni is that rare man who can write from a female perspective and keep me reading。 I'm sure big kudos go to his consulting females! I forgot how much I loved this series and how perfect the narrator is! I am excited about the new cases Tracy will be working in future books (I will be immediately reading #9)。 While these books could technically "stand alone" the reader will get more out of it and enjoy it most if they've read the previous books in order。 That said, I was a little annoyed that the beginning of this book kept mentioning "that bad thing that happened to Tracy" (in book 7) but didn't come out with what it was。 I I forgot how much I loved this series and how perfect the narrator is! Another strong police procedural in the Tracy Crosswhite series, as she is moved on to the cold case desk but still helps out in a missing woman case。

This book literally gave me nightmares so 4 stars for affecting me so strongly。 Tracy is constantly evolving, both professionally and personally and I'm happy for her。 (Yes, I realize she's fictional but I'm still a fan。) There were some twists I didn't see coming but Dugoni made it all tie together。 This book literally gave me nightmares so 4 stars for affecting me so strongly。 Tracy is constantly evolving, both professionally and personally and I'm happy for her。 (Yes, I realize she's fictional but I'm still a fan。) There were some twists I didn't see coming but Dugoni made it all tie together。 。。。more

I liked this book but not as much as others in the series。It was interesting to see Tracy in Cold Cases, and I thought one of the cases had been left behind until the last few chapters。They are now back in Seattle。

[10 Sept 2022]This was a pretty good entry in the Tracy Crosswhite series。 It kept me guessing throughout, with unusual characters and an unusual story。 A young woman disappears on her early evening run in a small park in North Seattle。 Tracy is supposed to be working cold cases, but her friend in Missing Persons asks for help and Tracy can't refuse。 But of course a missing person is more urgent than a death, in case she may be alive, though Tracy isn't really hopeful about that。 [10 Sept 2022]This was a pretty good entry in the Tracy Crosswhite series。 It kept me guessing throughout, with unusual characters and an unusual story。 A young woman disappears on her early evening run in a small park in North Seattle。 Tracy is supposed to be working cold cases, but her friend in Missing Persons asks for help and Tracy can't refuse。 But of course a missing person is more urgent than a death, in case she may be alive, though Tracy isn't really hopeful about that。 。。。more

the setup…Detective Tracy Crosswhite returns from extended leave to discover she’s been reassigned to the cold case unit。 After consideration, she decides to begin with the unsolved abduction of little Elle Chin who disappeared from a corn maze while out with her father five years ago on Halloween。 Elle’s parents were in the middle of a nasty divorce at the time and both pointed the finger at each other when their daughter, who was five-years old at the time, vanished without a trace。 While Trac the setup…Detective Tracy Crosswhite returns from extended leave to discover she’s been reassigned to the cold case unit。 After consideration, she decides to begin with the unsolved abduction of little Elle Chin who disappeared from a corn maze while out with her father five years ago on Halloween。 Elle’s parents were in the middle of a nasty divorce at the time and both pointed the finger at each other when their daughter, who was five-years old at the time, vanished without a trace。 While Tracy starts her investigation, she’s also asked to help out her old partner with a current missing person search for Stephanie Cole, a young woman who went jogging in a park before she was to attend a Halloween party and hasn’t been seen since。 the heart of the story…It wasn’t only about the investigations this time as Tracy must make critical career decisions after being unfairly reassigned by her vindictive Captain Nolasco。 Even though he narrowly threaded policy in making that move, Tracy still had options, retirement being one of them。 I admired her process for deciding what was best for her and her family, which was thoughtful and measured。 The Chin case was interesting and puzzling but also a tragic example of how a child can be caught up in the bad behavior of two warring parents in the middle of a divorce。 The search for Stephanie Cole was classic police procedural, which I absolutely love and no one does it better than Tracy。 It was even more compelling as we get the point of view of those responsible for her disappearance。the narration…Emily Sutton-Smith delivers another fine performance and I’ve come to count on her as the voice of the series。 It wouldn’t be quite the same experience without her。 She’s my Tracy, as well as adeptly managing all other characters。 the bottom line…I was engaged in this story from the onset and stayed that way until the end。 While I thought I knew what had happened to Stephanie, the resolution of the case still had quite a few surprises and caught me a bit flatfooted。 The real surprise came with the resolution of the Chin case and the choices Tracy faced in putting it to rest。 This series isn’t just about the investigations but wonderful illustrations of the human condition as everyone involved goes through the process, including the perpetrators, victims, their families and those tasked with solving these crimes。 There are so many layers in this story that left me considering more than the final outcomes。 And, for me, it’s all best served up in the audiobook experience。 4。5 starsPosted on Blue Mood Café 。。。more

A literal WTF:A decorated detective is forced to move from her team coming back from materiality leave。 Unknowingly, she steps into cold cases that jab at her own wounds and rattle the horrors of criminals you wouldn’t imagine。 Never disappoints!

Holy cow, the plot twist at the end of Chapter 35 had me saying “WOW!” I wasn’t expecting that at all。 I really loved seeing the cold cases blend with active cases。

I was so excited to see that there was another Tracy Crosswhite book out there and as usual, Robert Dugoni did not disappoint。 Tracy has been pushed to cold cases by her devious supervisor, but is also pulled into a current missing person case。 This case has lots of suspense and points to a very bad ending for the woman who has disappeared。 The cold case involves a missing child and Tracy keeps her hand in that case as well as the new one。 Tracy is tying in two of her cold cases to one of these I was so excited to see that there was another Tracy Crosswhite book out there and as usual, Robert Dugoni did not disappoint。 Tracy has been pushed to cold cases by her devious supervisor, but is also pulled into a current missing person case。 This case has lots of suspense and points to a very bad ending for the woman who has disappeared。 The cold case involves a missing child and Tracy keeps her hand in that case as well as the new one。 Tracy is tying in two of her cold cases to one of these and time will tell if they are related。 This had a very poignant ending and even with all that occurred, cases were solved and a few lived happily ever after。 (We assume) Some did not。 。。。more

This is book 8 of the Tracy Crosswhite series。 And if my memory serves me correctly, the first in the series where the guilty is revealed to the reader before the detectives figure it out。 I also believe this is the first book where a murder isn’t being solved。 This book tracks several missing persons cases。 The only negative I have to say about this book is the use of the word “retarded” so many times。 Seemed unnecessary to me。 There is one more book in the series that will be released in just This is book 8 of the Tracy Crosswhite series。 And if my memory serves me correctly, the first in the series where the guilty is revealed to the reader before the detectives figure it out。 I also believe this is the first book where a murder isn’t being solved。 This book tracks several missing persons cases。 The only negative I have to say about this book is the use of the word “retarded” so many times。 Seemed unnecessary to me。 There is one more book in the series that will be released in just a few days。 I’m excited to read it and find out if that will be the end of the series or if Tracy Crosswhite will keep solving murder and cold cases。 The past couple books have hinted to her thinking of turning in her badge for the full time mom gig。 I will be so bummed if the series ends, but either way I know the next book will be just as good as the others! 。。。more

Stayed up until 2am to finish this one! The only thing that bothered me was that Tracy didn't run a background check on the brothers sooner。 I'll overlook that because the rest of the book was amazing。 Stayed up until 2am to finish this one! I did wonder about the little girl missing persons case, because I felt it could have done with more developing。。。 As it is, the focus was mostly on the new missing persons case and the case with the little girl felt a bit like an afterthought。 This doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy my time with In Her Tracks though, and I definitely can't wait to read the next book。(hide spoiler)] P。S。 Find more of my reviews here。["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more
